Wine Filled With You

February 6, 2024

Written by Maryam Alsammarraie from Russell Sage College — Troy — NY

Dozing off into

a world,

a world that isn't mine.

Your world.

Sunny days with

rainy clouds.

A candle in a

blinded room

type of world.

A world filled with

WINE poisoned wine,

the type of wine we drank together.

I still drank it,

the wine

knowing that it would

KILL ME.

Assumed you would

save the little girl

inside me

But you watched,

I cried,

looking at you

I dreamed.

I sobbed,

not because I wanted

I had nowhere else

to go

but to you

just you.

You were ME

and I was

YOU.

Still, I close my eyes

with love

as you

watch me

DISAPPEAR.
